Who owns the artistic and intellectual property rights to the supported projects?

The owners of the supported projects retain full rights to the artistic product, provided that Ettijahat – Independent Culture – is credited. Ettijahat has the right to publish and use the product during and after the project for non-profit purposes, always citing the name of the creator.

Yes, Ettijahat will be hosting two open Q&A sessions about the application process. The first will be on Thursday, May 21, at 2:00 PM Western European Time (3:00 PM Damascus time). Use Euros to fill out the application form and in your budget. You can also use the Syrian Pound after receiving the Zad support during the project’s implementation in Syria.

This depends on the decision of the jury committee, which reviews all applications and determines the amount, type, and percentage of support to be provided. The panel prioritises supporting budget items directly related to the artists' travel and their artwork.

What costs does ZAD Syria cover?

Travel and accommodation costs: This includes local transportation, daily expenses, travel insurance (including any costs related to special needs or health conditions), and accommodation. Transportation and shipping costs of artwork and production materials. Production costs associated with partnerships established by the project: workshops, fees for partner artists, etc. This does not cover any costs related to the production of a new artistic project.

What artistic or literary samples should be submitted with the application?

Samples of the work for which the exhibition is planned, in addition to samples of the applicant's other artistic or literary works, will provide the jury committee with a comprehensive overview of the applicant’s career. The more details you share, the more complete a picture the jury will have of your work.

Is an official invitation from the destination organisation mandatory?

Applicants must explain the venue and conditions of the exhibition, as well as the partner hosting it. We understand that the agreement may be under development, not finalised, or not fully completed, so uploading the official invitation is not mandatory. However, it will help the jury committee better evaluate the application.

What supporting documents are required to submit my application?

A copy of the applicant's national ID/passport, a copy of their valid official residence permit in Turkey or a European country, a personal photograph, the applicant's CV, a sample of the work to be exhibited at the event, samples of previous work, and a photo of the project to be exhibited at the event. Applications that do not meet the evaluation criteria in terms of content will not be considered, nor will incomplete applications or those missing any of the aforementioned documents.

Does ZAD Syria support participation in training workshops or attendance at conferences, festivals, and exhibitions?

This edition of ZAD is dedicated to facilitating the transfer of completed artistic projects to Syria, either for direct exhibition or for reproduction in partnership with artists within Syria. No other type of artistic contribution or participation is supported.
