ZAD Syria

To apply to ZAD, the artistic project must include a component of genuine interaction with artists in the host cities, whether through a partnership in presentations or by organising workshops and exchange sessions. Some examples of partnerships include an artist presenting their music album in Syria in partnership with musicians residing in Syria, or an artist's performance being accompanied by an interactive workshop on their specialisation within the performing arts.

ZAD Syria supports the mobility of all artistic works (with the exception of film) that are presented in front of a new audience in new spaces and cities in Syria. Examples include theatrical performances, live art shows, concerts, art exhibitions, and multidisciplinary installations. ZAD Syria does not support film screenings, as these will be supported by the Narratives of Today initiative launched by Ettijahat in collaboration with Aflamuna Foundation.

Travel and the presentation of the artworks must be completed by 2026.

This is up to you, but the support provided by Zad does not cover any costs incurred before the date of receiving Zad support.

The programme covers transportation costs for artists residing in Turkey and the following European countries: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Cyprus, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Wales.

No, the programme does not support the production of new artworks, but rather the mobility of newly-produced works that have not been presented yet.

The programme supports the mobility of artistic projects that have already been produced and presented, as well as projects that are being presented for the first time.

Artistic groups/collectives that include people who are not from Syria can apply, regardless of their nationality, however, the main applicant must be from Syria (either holding the nationality themselves or whose mother has the nationality).

Any artist who plays a key role in the artwork is eligible to apply: writer, composer, scenographer, producer, curator, etc.
